The show is centred around the desertion of brides by NRI grooms that is prevalent in various regions of Punjab. Gurbani is the story of young and spirited girl from Punjab with dreams in her eyes of an NRI wedding and a happy life thereafter.The title of new show Gurbani has been replaced with Bani – Ishq da Kalma, said an official statement from channel Colors on Monday. The decision comes after various Sikh organisations reportedly expressed concern over it. “With utmost respect and humility, we request the complainants to view Gurbani as merely a name and in context of a fiction show that endeavours to bring a social issue to the fore. However, to respect the sentiments of the people, we have decided to change the name of the show,” read the statement from the channel.
Gurbani 1st May
Rajji is standing on the stool and searching for Bani. She will be whispering her name but really upset Bani does not hear her and she goes up to the terrace.
Rajji will be wondering why she is so stressed and what she is doing on the terrace and she will go up and see her.
Sarabhjeet will be on terrace and he will be going through what happened with Dishu. Rajji comes up and calls to Bani. Bani shushes her and speaks to Sarabhjeet. Rajji hides on hearing his voice.
Bani will be trying to make him drink milk at least but he will refuse Then she will ask him that both of you fought and now you are not eating. He tells that between Husband and wife there will be some small fights and you kids should not get into it. Bani is ask him that is because of me. He tells her not to have such a thought in her head. This is about a different thing. He asks her to go to sleep. Rajji signals what is happening and Bani just has tears in her eyes and goes down knowing they had fought because of her.
There is a Saiiya song in the background showing all three of them in tears and thinking.
The next morning Dishu is in the Kitchen and she is eating. Bani sees this and is very happy. She asks her mother if she was eating. Then Dishu gives some food to Bani and asks her to give the food to her father. Bani happily take’s the plate to her father.
In Nirveil’s house Kartar, is bringing all the stuff required for the wedding. Binder asks him to put everything up. He will get angry and will ask Rajji to help and then she tells him that since she is her wedding, she will not do any work.
Bani will stop Sarabhjeet who is going to the fields and she will tell that Dishu has food. He asks her if she had food really, when Bani confirms with him then he eats. Rajji who is overhearing by the side of the wall is very happy that Sarabhjeet had his breakfast. She smiles and Binder asks her why she is smiling. She will tell it is nothing that she just remembered a joke. Binder asks Rajji to get everything ready.
Beeji goes into the kitchen and tells Dishu she knows she did not eat and has told lies. Bani hears this and gets angry for she had told Sarabhjeet that she has eaten. Dishu will tell her not to interfere in the lives of the elders. Beeji and Bani try to make her eat and she refuses. Bani is in tears. She tells her that she has to eat and Dishu tells her that she will eat properly when Bani gets married to an NRI. Bani is shocked and sad on listening to it.
Maamaji is in front of the mirror and the phone is ringing. Then Maamiji will pick up the phone and tells that it is Nirmal the matchmaker. Nirmal tells that it is good news that the boy’s side likes the girl very much. Maamiji is happy and says she will pass on the news to Dishu. Maamaji will tell that to wait till evening, but Maamiji will not listen.
Dishu will give a glass of Lassie to Sarabhjeet and tells him that she did not want to starve and so she had her food. She will give the buttermilk and tells him that because she ate it does not mean that she has agreed to what he said. She tells him that she will still stand by her words. The Rasam begins. Rajji sees the unhappy face of Dishu and will be thinking of all what happened. Then the rasams is over . They ask for permission to go and they leave.
In the meantime Dishu feels faint and she faints. Bani see her and shout. Then everyone runs to her and they ask to drink water and she even refuses the doctor.
Beeji then tells her the truth that how will she drink water when he is on a bhook Hartal. Sarabhjeet is very shocked and asks why she is fasting. He asks Bani why di you tell me that she had eaten. Then Beeji ells him the truth of how Dishu lied and even Bani did not know.

Then they think the boy’s side comes. Then Kartar comes and tells his Soham’s Bhaiyya or Bhabi. Then Nirveil will be shocked and thinks weather they have come for asking for Bani’s Ristha and gets concerned.
On the other side Beeji asks them why they have come and with a sweet box id it some special occasion. Them Simran tells that they have come to talk to Deshu and Sarabhjeet.
Deshu will immediately tell they can always talk and asks them to eat something She will go to get tea on the signal of Sarabhjeet.
Soham is very nervous as to what is happening their and his friend will be irritating him by singing more songs.
Bani come to know from Happy that Soham brother and sister in law have come and she is shocked and worried.

Nirveil will be very worried and pacing up and down. Then Binder will wonder what is worrying him. He will tell that Simran and Angad had come with Soham’s ristha. Binder is very shocked at the news.
In the next house they will be serving food and Maamiji will be telling to eat all the goodies, which Bani made. Then Beeji will ask Simran to eat.
Binder will ask why are they not getting him married to Soham who is such a good boy. Then Nirveil tells that it is because Deshu fears that he may come back as I have had done. Then they will tell that it was very sad for Bani. Then Nirveil tells that he never felt so bad before in his life for coming back as he has done so now.
He tells Binder her will go and see what is happening that side of the wall. He encounters Rajji there and she gives an excuse for what she was doing there. Then He gives a excuse that he has come for a towel . he is shocked to se e Simran and Angad and asks they are still here. Then Rajji tells Deshu had introduced then as neighbors and so they had to stay back. Nirveil is shocked. Then Rajji tells they came for Soham ristha and how they would be feeling. He has a huge house. Then Daddaji will tell that they have the riches and can afford it but Parmeet wanted to earn by himself.
Then Manpreet will tell Deshu to ask if she has any doubts to be cleared they are free to ask. She tells they are form a Pind nearby and they have many lands and their eldest son looks them after. Listening to the riches Deshu suddenly tells she likes Parmeet. Everyone is shocked and Manpreet is so very surprised. Daddaji will tell that the boy will come and then let them meet and decide.
Then she agrees to bring Bani to meet them. She goes to Bani and tells her not to feel afraid and first she ahs to wish Sat Sri Akal and then serve tea. Bani tell her that she is not scared and she is ready to meet them. Maamiji will come there and asks them to hurry up.
Soham will be sitting on the steps of his house daydreaming and then his friend will be enacting how Bani would be feeling shy and serving tea for Simran and Angad. They will show Bani serving tea to the other family and Simran and Angad will be feeling very uncomfortable.
Then his friend will tell that they will take the cup and her they show Manpreet will tell Bani is more beautiful than they imagined. They the friend will tell that the time will come when they say they like Bani. Manpreet tells Deshu that all of them like Bani. Deshu is shown to be very happy. Poor Soham will be dreaming all what his friend was telling.

Then Deshu tells that if they want to discuss anything you can decide between us. Other wise you can sit alone we will give you some privacy. Daddaji agrees with her. Manpreet is very uncomfortable. They leave then with some privacy and leave.
Binder and Nirveil will be wondering why Deshu is behaving like this. Nirveil tells that thye can do anything what they want.
Sarabhjeet will be angry as to what Deshu did and tells they said they will tell the answer in the morning but why are you behaving like this.
They will be sitting inside. Then Maamaji get a phone and he goes out to answer a call. Simran comes in and tells Deshu that they had come for asking Bani’s hand. She tells she knows but she will never agree for Soham’s ristha. It does not mean that she does not like Soham but it means Soham will bit fulfill he dreams that she had for Bani. She will tell that they are so rich and the boy is a successful NRI while Soham will never compete with Soham. Angad will tell Deshu that you are speaking as if the ristha is already fixed. Then Manpreet daughter in law will come and tell them to come outside.
They will all go out side and Manpreet will tell that the Ristha is fixed. Then everyone will be happy. Then Maamaji will ask them as to how come Parmeet did not even see Bani. Then they will inform that Parmeet has already seen the photo and has left the decision to them,
Then Deshu will tell the Ristha is fixed. Daddaji will tell the Ristha is not fixed till Bani agrees. Deshu will tell that Bani has already agreed. Daddaji will tell unless the Bani tells it from her mouth that she agrees then only will the ristha be fixed. Deshu will tell that she will bring Bani.
Rajji will be watching from up and is very worried. Deshu will bring Bani and Manpreet will tell that Daiji is asking if you agree for the wedding. Bani will be hesitating. Manpreet tells this is a question of your life so think and give ananswer. Then she sees Simran and Angad and is feeling very bad for them.
She remembers Sararbhjeet’s word s and will be thinking. At last she will remember the adamancy of Deshu and her bhook Hartal. Then she also remembers how Deshu fainted. Dadiji (Daddaji) will ask erh for a answer.
Rajji will be praying that Bani will refuse.
Manpreet will ask if she agrees and Bani will agree ad they will be all very happy that the Rishta is fixed. Rajji will be in tears and Deshu will be serving sweets to everyone.
Poor Simran and aAngad had to stand and watch all theis and Deshu will offer sweets and Simran and Angad wll take it just for formality. Deshu will tell that her relatives live the other side and she will call them. Then Happy goes and calls Nirveil and Binder to come to the other side for Bani’s Rishta is fixed.
Angad is very angry and tells he wont go to that side. Nirveil and Binder will be shocked and will be wondering what to do. Rajji is very angry.
Deshu will be thinking if Nirveil and family do not come what will she do and what will the boy’s side think.
Binder and Nirveil will be wondering why Deshu is behaving like this. Nirveil tells that thye can do anything what they want.

Rajji will be watching from up and is very worried. Deshu will bring Bani and Manpreet will tell that Daiji is asking if you agree for the wedding. Bani will be hesitating. Rajji will be praying that Bani will refuse.
Manpreet will ask if she agrees and Bani will agree ad they will be all very happy that the Rishta is fixed. Rajji will be in tears and Deshu will be serving sweets to everyone.
Poor Simran and aAngad had to stand and watch all theis and Deshu will offer sweets and Simran and Angad wll take it just for formality. Deshu will tell that her relatives live the other side and she will call them. Then Happy goes and calls Nirveil and Binder to come to the other side for Bani’s Rishta is fixed.
Angad is very angry and tells he wont go to that side. Nirveil and Binder will be shocked and will be wondering what to do. Rajji is very angry.
Deshu will be thinking if Nirveil and family do not come what will she do and what will the boy’s side think.
Gurbani 9th May
Nirveil, Rajji & Binder enter Sarab’s house and Desho introduces them. Parmeet’s family happily greets them. After a while, Angad and Simran decide to leave. Daadi requests them to stay for some time. But, they sadly leave. While going, Mami Ji invites them for Bani’s wedding. Sarab & Bani are helpless.

He had alot of expectations that they’ll return after fixing Bani’s wedding with him. Poor guy will be shattered if he comes to know that Bani will be marrying an NRI. He had promised that he wont let Bani become Rano. Angad tells her not to worry. On the other hand, Sohum and Guggu are waiting anxiously for Angad & Simran. Sohum finds it difficult to control his excitement. Guggisays happiness is on its way and assures him that everything will be fine.
Rajji confronts Bani over all that is happening. Bani says she is happy and tells Rajji that for the first time in years she has seen Desho so peaceful and calm. Maamiji cant they cannot take the teasing from Beeji and Maamaji and she will tell that she is going to take rest.
Then Deshu will ask Bani to go and rest and she was getting scared simply and all went of well.
Beeji will tell that she was scared that how will the wedding take place is 15 days. Then she tells that all this happened to Deshu. Deshu tells that she just got the idea but her brother fulfilled everything and made it possible.
Then she tells now she has got back her lost respect with her Maiyka and will tell that how they looked down on us. Then she tells they were so angry when Nirveil came back and they looked down upon her for she could not return the money. Maamaji will console her along with Beeji. They twll her to forget the past and they will come around just like she forgave Nirveil they will forgive her also. They remind her that there is lot of work for the wedding and she is very excited.
Sarabhjeet will be thinking of Soham and how he had confessed to him that he loved Bani and how he will look after then.
Deshu sees him and asks him if he was thinking of Angad and Simran. She tells him even she is feeling bad but how can they think of outsiders and give up the happiness of their daughters. Then all the arrangements for the wedding will be taing place along with the Dakka. Mammiji will come out and as always will be complaining. Then Mammaji will tell her to help with the work. Mammiji will tell everything should take place properly and there should not be any Ooonch Neench by them.
Sarabhjeet will tell that he forgot to inform the car waala and also had to get the mittai. So he sets of when he turns he sees Soham.
Soham tells that he will get the car waala and the Mittai. Then he tells that what happened was no one fault.
Every mother will like the happiness of the child. He has to come to help for Bani’s wedding and he will work 24 hours to make it a success. Then he will tell that we should see that Bani is happy and she should go from here very happily.

Soham then recollects his surroundings and then he tells that he will go for the car waala and Mittai. On the way he will have a argument with the tent waala who was talking so roughly with Sarabhjeet earlier. He will tell that person that he will not get any money if he does not to it quickly and if he does a shabby job. The tent waala will assure him that he will do it properly and there will be no cause for complaints.
The tent waala will be arguing with the Angad and Nirveil also. Then Binder comes and tells that they should all get ready fast as they have to go for the Daaka.
