Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is an Indian television drama that premiered on 12 January 2009 on Star Plus. The show is produced by Rajan Shahi's Director's Kut Productions. The show completed 1000 episodes on 12 October 2012, 4 years on 12th January, 2013 and 1100 episodes on 25 February 2013. Currently, it is the longest running serial on Star Plus. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is the story of a young couple Naitik and Akshara Singhania who live in a Marwari family at Udaipur. The story shows their journey as husband-wife, mother-father, their love and their family.The concept of an arranged marriage is quiet unique to the Indian culture. The families choose the bride and the groom as per their own beliefs and customs and the two strangers are tied for a lifetime by the knot of holy matrimony. There is no courting and they rarely ask the bride and groom for their preferences.
